本作由井上刚担任导演，与NHK四月播出的剧集《地震之后》共享故事框架，同时新增场景重新剪辑而成。该片基于村上春树短篇小说集《神的孩子全跳舞》中四则短篇，讲述关于丧失与重生的故事。描绘1995年阪神淡路大地震后，四个在不同时代与地域背负孤独生存之人的命运交织，最终与当下产生联结的历程。。A lonely tow-truck driver gets caught in a deadly struggle between a pair of bank robbers with a beautiful hostage, local cops, and a monster that has come down from the Arizona mountains to eat human flesh. They make the driver hostage and they run to a forest, followed by the "men-of-law". Meanwhile a "big-foot" chases both groups, and they join forces against the "thing".
