十八世纪四十年代，墨西哥陷入一片混乱。叛党和革命者控制了山区，而中央政府正企图重新夺回政权，邻邦美国伺机侵入。当爱尔兰因为猩红热疾病而失去了一半的人口时，一场不同寻常的跨越大西洋的战争爆发了。两百万爱尔兰怀着绝望的心情，伤痕累累地乘船驶向美国。由于美国军队承诺爱尔兰人加入其军队就可以拥有合法的公民身份。至此，诱惑了大批年轻的爱尔兰天主信徒加入了以新教徒为主的美国军队，而这也是爱尔兰唯一的选择。 但现实并不像这些爱尔兰天主教徒想象得那么美好，在美国军队他们遭受十分不公正的待遇和迫害。同为爱尔兰人的监狱长士官赖利十分同情这些年轻人，救其于刑场，并带领他们逃离美国。在墨西哥边境，由赖利率领的这对士兵遭到了墨西哥革命党人的袭击。在女革命党人马塔的劝说下，他们得以生存，并在山上的基地养伤。马塔对赖利细心照料，二人渐渐互相产生好感。但他们刚刚萌生的感情遭到了革命...。The year is 1971 when the Pakistani Army is at war with the Indian Soldiers.
