钻石王老五牛飞（何冰 饰）事业有成，每日开着保时捷奔忙履行自己作为CEO的责任。这天，大学时曾一度谈婚论嫁的女友杨琪（梁静 饰）在失去联系多年后突然致电，令陷入沉思的牛飞不幸遭遇车祸……牛飞醒来后发现自己的生活发生了翻天覆地的变化：他不但和杨琪结婚多年还有了一个叫做嘟嘟 的女儿，成功的事业和周围的人也一下都变成了陌生人，只有几个相识多年的好友如故，而他本人从CEO变成了一家小服装店的老板。牛飞经历了这不可思议的剧变后很快陷入了琐碎的生活，在无限怀念昔日风光的同时他希望这个逼真的“梦”能快点消失。然而他渐渐发现了家庭生活的美好……。The expanded third season picks up six months after the events of season two and follows Lt.
